Vernonia missurica - Missouri Ironweed

Rhizomatous perennial growing up to 6 feet. Grows in full sun and medium to wet soils. Purple flowers bloom from July to August. Like many other ironweeds, the flowers attract a wide variety of pollinators. Naturally forms small colonies.
