Fragaria virginiana - Wild Strawberry
Perennial growing up to 8 inches tall. Grows in full sun to part shade and medium to slightly dry soils. Prefers well-drained soils high in organic matter. Spreads by runners that root. May go dormant during the heat of summer. White flowers attract small bees, butterflies, and skippers. Small, edible strawberries are produced. Blooms April to June.
